Detroit DD16 GHG14 (2014-16) Fault Code: SPN 520287 FMI 14 (MCM) Missing VIN in Motor Control Module

NOTE: This fault usually occurs after reprogramming the motor control module (MCM) after reprogramming, all fault codes must be cleared. Use the diagnostic service tool to set engine serial number/Vehicle Identification Number (ESN/VIN), command to change the ESN/VIN in the electronic control modules when you replace any of them, or if the engine is exchanged. NOTE: After programming the MCM, this code could falsly appear. Clear it and see if it returns. If it does, you need to change the VIN # I nthe engine ECM.

DESCRIPTION:Exhaust gas recirculatin (EGR) valve actuator, error. MONITORED PARAMETER:EGR valve actuator. TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:EGR valve actuator internal self test at start up. MONITOR SEQUENCE:None EXECUTION FREQUENCY:Continuous when enabling conditiosn met. TYPICAL DURATION:Two seconds DASH LAMPS:1. MIL2. CEL ENGINE REACTION:Derate 25% NOTE: If code 168-1 present, fix that first. PROBABLE CAUSES:1. Cranking and/or charging system of the truck.2. EGR valve actuator pull rod.3. Inspect for exhaust leaks around the EGR valve, repair as needed.4. EGR valve failure.5. Wiring between EGR valve and ECM.
