Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 288 PID: PID 372 SPN: 974 FMI: 19 SAE J1939 Multiplexing Remote Accelerator Pedal or Lever Position Sensor System- Received Network Data In Error

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionNormally, switches, accelerators, and other components are connected to the engine control module (ECM) directly through individual wires. Multiplexing allows those same components to be hard wired to an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vehicle electronic control unit (VECU) or transmission electronic control unit (ECU) in the cab. Then component values and states from components such as sensors, accelerators, and switches can be transmitted from the OEM VECU to the Cummins® ECM over the SAE J1939 data link. Messages sent from OEM VECUs or transmission ECUs are received by the Cummins® ECM and used for controlling the engine. The Cummins®...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 2881 PID: SID 332 SPN: 3480 FMI: 17 Aftertreatment Fuel Pressure Sensor- Data Valid But Below Normal Operational Range- Least Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe aftertreatment fuel pressure sensor is used to monitor the fuel pressure into the aftertreatment system. The engine control module (ECM) supplies the aftertreatment fuel pressure sensor a 5 volt reference voltage. When the fuel pressure is low, the sensor signal voltage is low. When the fuel pressure is high, the sensor signal voltage is near the 5 volt reference voltage. The ECM monitors the aftertreatment fuel pressure signal circuit voltage to calculate the pressure of the fuel within the aftertreatment system. Component LocationThe aftertreatment fuel injector is installed in the exhaust system in the turbocharger adapter pipe. The...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 295 PID: PID 108 SPN: 108 FMI: 2 Barometric Pressure- Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe barometric pressure sensor responds to pressure changes in the atmospheric pressure. The pressure changes occur based on the elevation where the engine is presently operating. The barometric pressure sensor has a 5 volt supply circuit, a sensor signal voltage, and a return circuit. Component LocationThe barometric pressure sensor is mounted on the main branch of the engine harness near the ECM. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThe first part of the diagnostic runs continuously while the keyswitch is in the ON posistion or the engine is running. The second part of the diagnostic runs at key OFF.Conditions for Setting the...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 2961 PID: PID 412 SPN: 412 FMI: 15 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature- Data valid But Above Normal Operational Range- Least Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) temperature sensor is a variable resistor sensor and is used to measure the temperature of the EGR gas flow after it exits the EGR cooler. The engine control module (ECM) supplies 5 volts to the EGR temperature signal circuit. The ECM monitors the change in voltage caused by changes in the resistance of the sensor to determine the EGR flow temperature. The EGR temperature value is used by the ECM for the engine protection system and engine emissions control. Component LocationThe EGR temperature sensor is located on the EGR connection tube between the EGR...
