Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 234 PID: PID 190 SPN: 190 FMI: 0 Engine Crankshaft Speed/Position- Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range- Most Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe crankshaft position and camshaft position sensors are Hall effect type sensors. The engine control module (ECM) provides a 5 volt supply to the position sensor and a return circuit. As the teeth on the crankshaft speed ring or the dimples in the back of the camshaft gear move past the position sensor, a signal is generated on the position sensor signal circuit. The ECM interprets this signal and converts it to an engine speed. A missing tooth on the crankshaft gear is used by the ECM to determine the position of the engine. Component LocationThe crankshaft position and...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 2343 PID: PID 95 SPN: 95 FMI: 15 Fuel Filter Differential Pressure- Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range- Least Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe engine control module (ECM) monitors engine operating conditions, including the reading of fuel rail pressure, and changes the flow command to either increase (OPEN the fuel pump actuator) or decrease (CLOSE the fuel pump actuator) the fuel supply to the high-pressure pump. Component LocationThere are two fuel filters and several original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplied components that can impact this fault code. The pressure-side fuel filter is typically mounted directly to the engine, but can also be remote mounted. The suction-side fuel filters and other OEM supplied components are OEM specific. The OEM is required to supply a...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 2346 PID: SID 384 SPN: 2789 FMI: 15 Turbocharger Turbine Intake Temperature- Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range- Least Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe exhaust gas temperature is calculated by the engine control module (ECM). The exhaust gas temperature is derived by the ECM, based on engine operating conditions such as intake manifold air temperature, engine speed, injection timing, intake manifold pressure, and fuel flow. Component LocationThere is not a physical exhaust gas temperature sensor in the system. The exhaust gas temperature is a calculation of exhaust gas temperature before the turbocharger, and is also known as turbine intake temperature. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the engine is running. Conditions for Setting the Fault CodesThe Engine Control Module...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 2347 PID: PID 404 SPN: 2629 FMI: 15 Turbocharger Compressor Outlet Temperature (Calculated)- Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range- Least Severe Level

Component LocationThere is not a physical turbocharger compressor outlet temperature sensor in the system. The turbocharger compressor outlet air temperature is a calculation of temperature of the air after it is compressed by the turbocharger compressor, but before exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is mixed into the system, and before it enters the charge-air cooler. Conditions for Running...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 2349 PID: SID 146 SPN: 2791 FMI: 5 EGR valve Control Circuit- Current Below Normal or Open Circuit

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is controlled by a brushless motor located on top of the EGR valve. The EGR valve motor uses three different motor legs to move the valve through its range of motion. The ECM uses the EGR motor A, B, and C wires to command the EGR valve to the appropriate position in order to meet EGR flow targets. The EGR valve motor contains three position sensors that detect the location of the EGR valve. These sensors report the position of the valve back to the ECM over the EGR valve position A, B, and...
