Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 1938 PID: SID 212 SPN: 3597 FMI: 18 ECU Power Output Supply Voltage 1- Data Valid But Below Normal Operational Range- Moderately Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) is electronically activated by the VGT actuator. The VGT actuator is a smart device and receives information via the J1939 data link from the primary engine control module (ECM). The VGT actuator performs its own diagnostics and reports malfunctions back to the primary engine ECM, using the J1939 data link. The ECM then decodes the error message and converts it to a fault code. Component LocationThe VGT actuator is located on the turbocharger bearing housing. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is in the ON position or when the...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 1942 PID: PID 101 SPN: 101 FMI: 2 Crankcase Pressure- Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe crankcase pressure sensor is used to monitor the pressure inside the crankcase. The engine control module (ECM) supplies the crankcase pressure sensor a 5 volt reference voltage. When the crankcase pressure is low, the sensor signal voltage is low. When the crankcase pressure is high, the sensor signal voltage is near the 5 volt reference voltage. The ECM monitors the crankcase pressure signal circuit voltage to calculate the pressure of the air within the crankcase. Component LocationThe crankcase pressure sensor is located near the crankcase ventilation filter. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic consists of two parts. The...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 1943 PID: SPN: 3555 FMI: 17 Ambient Air Density- Data Valid But Below Normal Operational Range- Least Severe Level

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe engine control module (ECM) monitors the ambient air pressure using either an ambient air pressure sensor or a combination turbocharger compressor intake pressure/temperature sensor. These sensors respond to pressure changes in the atmosphere, which occur based on the elevation where the engine is currently operating. This pressure sensor has a 5 volt supply circuit, a sensor signal voltage, and a return circuit. The ambient air or compressor intake pressure sensor provides a signal to the ECM on the pressure sensor signal circuit. This sensor signal voltage changes based on the pressure of the atmosphere. The ECM will detect...

Cummins X15 CM2450 X124B (2018 & Newer) Fault Code: 195 (2 Wire) PID: PID 2559 SPN: 111 FMI: 3 Coolant Level Sensor 1 Circuit- Voltage Above Normal or Shorted to High Source

Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on

Circuit DescriptionThe coolant level sensor is a switch and is used to measure the level of the engine coolant in the radiator top tank. The coolant level sensor is immersed in the coolant and returns a different signal voltage when immersed in coolant versus being out of coolant. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the change in the signal voltage to determine the level of the engine coolant. Component LocationThe engine coolant level sensor is typically located in the radiator top tank or surge tank. Refer to the OEM service manual for the location. Conditions for Running the DiagnosticsThis diagnostic...
