CAT 3406E (Prefix 1MM or 2WS) Fault Code: 33 PID: SPN: 32 FMI: 5 Turbo Wastegate Solenoid current low
Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions: •Actual boost is less than desired boost by more than 30 kPa (4.4 psi) for more than eight seconds.•The current for the turbocharger solenoid is greater than 80% of the maximum value.•Desired boost is not ZERO.•The ECM has been powered for at least two seconds. The wastegate solenoid allows the engine to more precisely regulate the boost pressure to the engine. By closing or partially closing the wastegate solenoid, the ECM can increase the boost pressure. Typical wastegates will limit boost pressure to a preset limit. The wastegate solenoid blocks air...

CAT 3406E (Prefix 1MM or 2WS) Fault Code: 34 PID: SPN: 190 FMI: 12 Primary Engine Speed loss of signal
Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on
The ECM detects the following conditions: •The signal for the secondary engine speed/timing sensor is intermittent or lost. The engine uses two engine speed/timing sensors. One sensor picks up the camshaft gear and the other sensor picks up the crankshaft gear. Both of the engine speed/timing sensors detect the reference for engine speed and timing from a unique pattern on the gear. The ECM counts the time between pulses that is created by the sensor as the gear rotates in order to determine rpm. Under normal operation, the secondary engine speed/timing sensor is used to determine timing for starting purposes....
