Allison 3000 & 4000 Gen 4 Fault Code: P0977 Shift Solenoid 2 (SS2) Control Circuit High
Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on
DIAGNOSTIC RESPONSE:7-speed: Allow 2 through 6, N, R CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:The Shift Solenoid 2 (SS2) may either be assigned to retarder models with an air solenoid or to the SS2 required in 7-speed models. For retarder models with an accumulator, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) commands SS2 ON to enable the normally closed air solenoid which allows air pressure to stroke the accumulator piston to pre-fill the retarder cavity during retarder operation. For 7-speed models, the TCM commands the SS2 solenoid ON to send main pressure to both the C2 latch valve and the C6 interlock valve. The TCM sends control...
Allison 3000 & 4000 Gen 4 Fault Code: P0989 Retarder Pressure Sensor Failed Low
Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on
DIAGNOSTIC RESPONSE:None CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:Some transmission retarder applications may use an optional retarder pressure sensor (also called EBS pressure sensor, and/or retarder pressure transducer). The retarder pressure sensor provides an analog voltage input to the TCM proportional to the retarder charge pressure. The retarder pressure sensor signal is monitored by TCM software and is used to calculate the delivered retarder torque. The calculated torque message is broadcast by the TCM over the Controller Area Network (CAN) for use by other vehicle controllers located on the CAN. For example, this feature is used when the vehicle has an Electronic Braking System (EBS)....

Allison 3000 & 4000 Gen 4 Fault Code: P1739 Incorrect Low Gear Ratio
Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on
DIAGNOSTIC RESPONSE:Command 2nd and allow shifts 2 through 6, N, R CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:The Transmission Control Module (TCM) uses input from the turbine speed and output speed sensors to determine the current commanded for stead state gear ratio. The TCM then compares the known gear ratio to the calculated gear ratio for the current range. CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC:1. Hydraulic system is pressurized.2. No shift in progress.3. Hydraulic default condition not present.4. Output speed is above 200 rpm.5. Engine initialization or shutdown is not in process. CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC:DTC P1739 sets during steady-state condition when the calculated low...
Allison 3000 & 4000 Gen 4 Fault Code: P1891 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) PWM Signal Low Input
Posted by PerDiezel Solutions on
DIAGNOSTIC RESPONSE:Use default throttle values CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:The Transmission Control Module (TCM) can be calibrated to receive a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) TPS pedal position signal. NOTE: A throttle source can be specified by:1. Autodetect of the throttle source (prior to MY 09 new release calibrations). Calibrations that have rolled forward from a previous software release will continue to have the autodetect source available in later CIN versions.2. Use of CMC Override Throttle Source with the diagnostic tool to set throttle source (PWM, SAE J1939, SAE J1587, PWM, or Autodetect). Choose “Autodetect”‘ from the CMC list only if the calibration is...
